Illuminate: Central Ohio’s LGBTQ+ History

I worked as the LGBTQ+ History Expert and primary Editor on the Illuminate Project and Exhibit in late 2025, ensuring that all information was accurate and authentically reflected Central Ohio’s LGBTQ+ community.
This project was completed in part with The Columbus Metropolitan Library, The Legacy Fund of the Columbus Foundation, Ohio Humanities, and Ohio History Connection.

Stonewall Columbus Ohio Historical Marker
In 2024-25, I worked in partnership with Stonewall Columbus to complete a rigorous application process for an Ohio Historical Marker for Stonewall Union (now Stonewall Columbus).
I conducted research, analyzed primary sources, and wrote and edited portions of the application materials (including a longer historical narrative) and the marker text.

Marking Diverse Ohio Project

As the Project Coordinator of the Gay Ohio History Initiative at Ohio History Connection, I championed the Marking Diverse Ohio Project, a 3-year initiative to find and document 10 Ohio’s LGBTQ+ stories. These 10 stories are currently in the process of becoming Ohio Historical Markers over the next 2 years.
In this role I worked directly with community members, nonprofit and community organizations, local government agencies, and libraries and archives. I gathered together disparate primary and secondary sources from personal archives, physical and digital archives, libraries, and oral histories to tell each of these stories through a 5-10 page historical narrative, as well as the marker text that will appear on the finished products.
