Queer Legacy is the name I use for my public history work, which started on TikTok and has since grown into a broader mission: making LGBTQ+ history visible, accessible, and meaningful for everyone
I earned my PhD in History from The Ohio State University in 2023, where I studied sexuality, gender, and LGBTQ+ life in the former Soviet Union. My dissertation, “There Is No Sex in the USSR”: Sex, Soviet Identity, and Glasnost, 1986–1991, was the first in-depth study of how people in the Soviet Union talked about and experienced sexuality during a time of huge political and cultural change.
As a public historian, I focus on connecting history with communities today. I’ve partnered with organizations across Central Ohio — including Ohio History Connection, The Legacy Foundation of the Columbus Foundation, and Columbus Metropolitan Library — to preserve and share local LGBTQ+ stories of struggle, community, and joy.
You can explore my portfolio for examples of past projects, from community archiving and museum exhibits to storytelling, research, and collaborative public history initiatives.
